Why you should wear purple on Thursday

purple day March 26 is Purple Day around the world—and no, it isn't just a fan day for the colour. Purple is used as a symbol for epilepsy, much as pink is for breast cancer, and March 26 is a day to spread awareness of what epilepsy really is.

For whatever reason, most of us have a pretty fuzzy picture of epilepsy, an association with seizures and perhaps burnt toast (remember that Canadian Heritage commercial?). This means that sufferers often feel stigmatized and insecure about telling people about their condition. But you can help by learning more about epilepsy (read our article about 9 epilepsy myths and truths) and spreading the word.

Visit purpleday.org to find out more, and make a statement by wearing purple on Thursday.
