Retailers pulling BPA
Yesterday, Margaret Nearing blogged about plans to declare bisphenol A a dangerous substance. A number of retailers are following suit with announcements they're pulling products that contain the compound from their shelves.
Here's a list of companies (check their websites for individual retailers) that have announced such plans so far:
Canadian Tire Corp.
Forzani Group Ltd.
Home Depot
Hudson's Bay Company
Wal-Mart Canada
Health Canada spokesperson Alastair Sinclair meanwhile is denying reports that the Health Minister plans to make a public statement this week regarding the Bisphenol-A (BPA) compound currently making headlines.
“The reports that the minister is expected to speak are wrong,” Sinclair told a Reader's Digest representative.
“The minister was slated to talk about this issue in mid-May. Now with all the public attention, there’s a chance this could take place sooner, but that’s all we know for now.”
