New in beauty: Two new budget-friendly skin-care lines at Shoppers Drug Mart
Looking for a new—and budget-friendly—addition to your skincare routine?
Shoppers Drug Mart is launching two exclusive new skin-care brands this month: Nuyu and Pur.
Nuyu is for women concerned with anti-aging, especially those over 35; the products contain Linefactor, a botanical extract rich in amino acids and antioxidants that addresses skin texture, wrinkles and loss of elasticity. The line includes eye cream, day and night cream, a wrinkle reducer and hand and body lotion, all ranging from $3.99 to $12.99.
Pur is aimed at a slightly younger demographic and features products that are free of parabens, colour and added fragrance (although they do contain a light scent from some of the ingredients). They're vegan-friendly, too, as they're not tested on animals and contain no animal ingredients. Items range from $5.99 to $8.99 and include face wash, day and night cream and eye cream.

I recently purchased the Pur Line available at Shoppers Drug Mart. I expected with the word "Organic" attached to this product that it would feel very natural and light on my skin. After using this product for nearly a month I am rather disappointed with the outcome. Imediately after using the moisturizer my skin feels great, but as the day continues my skin is noticably dry and even blotchy (like that of skin irritation) and feels nothing like an organic healthy skin product. At the end of the day this is yet another lesson that when it comes to your skin, you get what you pay for. Here's to wishful thinking that one day, someone will make a skin care line that does what it says, for less than an arm and a leg.
I bought the NuYu skin care line today. The cleaning milk, facial scrub and the day cream. I love how it feels on my skin, the cream is not greasy at all, the scrub really gentle and the cleaning milk felt amazing on my skin. It says you will see results within 42 days. I guess time will tell, but I like it so far. Has a nice clean light scent to it as well.
I entered all of the ingredients into the Skin Deep website and it shows as a 5 out of 10 which is not a good score for a product that sounds organic and pure.
