Energy-efficient lightbulbs from Shoppers Drug Mart
Shoppers Drug Mart has been expanding their eco offerings lately with their Bio-life line, which includes a wide range of home cleaning products such as laundry detergent and glass cleaner—and now, they've added compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) to their offerings.
Like all CFLs, the Bio-life bulbs are long-lasting and energy-efficient—they use about one-third as much electricity as conventional incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times as long. The lineup at Shoppers (or Pharmaprix in Quebec) includes a range of wattages and sizes, priced from $6.99.
And while they don't have a system in place yet to take back used bulbs for safe disposal (CFLs shouldn't go in with your regular garbage), they're looking into possible solutions. In the meantime, contact your municipality for information on how to dispose of CFLs.
