Celebrate success—then plan for more
I have always been a weight gainer over the summer and come the first
week of September I could never get my jeans on. This is always
followed by weeks of dieting, etc. and by Novemberish, the jeans
finally fit for a few weeks—at least until Christmas comes.
Yesterday I hauled out the jeans. I had this big stare-off with them
before I put them on… “Mr. Jeans,” I have been working to stay fit this
summer, you know that I have been more focused on my health... so,
“Mr.,” you better fit. And they did! They FIT! And were comfortable
too! This is the first time in years, and years, I don’t have to do the
get-slim routine again on September 1 (or lie on the bed with a coat
hanger trying to get the zipper up to pretend they fit).
September always feels a bit like a “new year” to me. The vacations are over, the brain is refocused forward, and we make fall activity plans. My goals for the fall are:
a) to increase my fitness level and do at least 3 hours a week of
exercise (this is the minimum required for all women to fend off or
reduce their chances of getting breast cancer and it also helps to
reduce heart disease, diabetes, etc., etc.)
b) to haul out the recipe books and find a couple of new family
favourite meals, with a focus on adding more veggies into our eating
plan
c) to plan some relaxing time each day
Did I tell you that the JEANS FIT… oh my, my… I just may have to go
shopping to celebrate! I think a saw a fabulous pair of shoes that
would go with my jeans… and maybe a sweater to top it all off!
Life is good,
